UA03076 Old Balinese Teak Betel Nut Container, carved from one solid piece of teak with the core of the wood running lengthwise, deftly carved in a rectangular footed box shape with everted lip, having 5 carved out rectilinear wells, three in front of equal size and one large one in the back and one small one in the corner with remnants of the slacked lime, a carved out base with four triangular shaped block feet, used in the ritual of chewing the Betel Leaf and Areca Nut combined with slacked lime and spices, minor shrinkage splits on either end, signs of use and wear otherwise fine condition. 3-3/4" High x 7-7/8" Long x 4-3/8" Wide. Early 20th Century.
