NG91020 Japanese Buddhist assembled wood sculpture of Kannon-Bosatsu (Avalokitesvara), the God of Compassion, standing male figure with abundant cloak drapery including the pendant wrapped sleeves, standing on a lotus base on a rocky outcropping, the left hand holds a lotus and the right hand upraised with webbed fingers in the vitarka mudra (the seal of reasoning), all lacquered and gilded, the inset eyes of painted crystal and the addition of an elaborate gilt metal crown and necklace with glass and wood pendant beads. Losses to fingers and other minor losses otherwise fine condition.
